ABOUT PELSUNG

LAUNCHED TO BUILD THE FUTURE

Launched on October 7, 2025 by His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Pelsung is the flagship innovation and capability building platform under the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

Positioned as the third pillar of nation-building, Pelsung is both a platform and a movement—designed to prepare Bhutanese youth to actively build and steward transformative initiatives like GMC and the 10X Bhutan ambition.

Pelsung program

“Everything we are doing today is for our youth – so that they will be better versions of us, better prepared, smarter, and more hard-working. It falls on us to build that future, and on them to protect it and take it to greater heights. That is the reason Pelsung has been created.”

— His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, GMC Launch, October 7, 2025

WHAT PELSUNG IS

WHAT PELSUNG IS

Pelsung exists to help Bhutan build the people needed for its next phase of transformation. It is not a youth event series, and it is not a conventional training programme. It is a national capability platform that identifies promising Bhutanese youth, exposes them to real challenges, and creates pathways for them to contribute in meaningful ways. Bhutan does not lack ideas. It lacks execution capacity at scale. Pelsung exists to help close that gap.

HOW PELSUNG WORKS

Pelsung begins with immersion. The immersion programme is the entry point into a wider system that includes mini-cohorts, partner-linked challenge work, specialised capability development, alumni support, placements, and the Innovation Lab. In other words, immersion is where Pelsups begin. It is not the whole model.

POST-IMMERSION AND MINI-COHORTS

As Pelsung grows, it is moving beyond one-size-fits-all programming. Mini-cohorts allow Pelsups to be grouped into real domains of national importance and exposed to deeper, more practical work. Post-immersion pathways then help promising Pelsups continue into specialised roles, institutional projects, alumni opportunities, and solution development.

PELSUNG'S VALUES

AGENCY

We expect youth to take ownership of real challenges and real solutions.

COLLABORATION

We connect youth with institutions, mentors, peers, and partners so they can learn and contribute together.

RESILIENCE

We value discipline, adaptability, and the willingness to keep improving through real work.
