Pelsung is hiring four Associate Directors

Pelsung is entering its next phase of institutional growth.

Over the past year, Pelsung has operated as a national youth capability platform aligned to Gelephu Mindfulness City and Bhutan’s broader 10X transformation ambition. The focus for the institution in this phase of growth is institutionalisation: building the systems, teams, and leadership structure required for Pelsung to become a permanent national capability institution.

Pelsung is being structured around two major engines.

  • The Innovation Lab: Pelsung’s strategic and capital engine. It will source real national problems, design solutions, build ventures, manage early-stage funding pathways, and develop business intelligence for Bhutan and GMC.
  • The Secretariat: Pelsung’s execution and institutional operations engine. It will run programmes, manage partnerships, coordinate alumni and engagement, lead communications, organise events, and maintain the operational backbone of the institution.

To support this transition, Pelsung is inviting applications for four Associate Director positions.

Open positions

Associate Director, Operations and Partnerships

The Associate Director, Operations and Partnerships will sit within the Secretariat and will be responsible for programme execution, partner coordination, and delivery discipline. This role will ensure that programmes designed or validated by the Innovation Lab are translated into clear implementation plans, partner workflows, delivery calendars, and reporting systems. The role will also manage institutional relationships with implementation partners, host organisations, technical collaborators, and other stakeholders. This is a role for someone who can run complex operations, follow through on commitments, coordinate across institutions, and ensure that Pelsung’s programmes are delivered to standard.

Associate Director, Communications and Engagement

The Associate Director, Communications and Engagement will sit within the Secretariat and will lead Pelsung’s communications, alumni engagement, outreach, events, and institutional visibility. This role will ensure that Pelsung remains visible, credible, and connected to its community of Pelsups, partners, institutions, and the wider public. It will also manage Pelsung’s public narrative, alumni systems, events calendar, and stakeholder engagement touchpoints. This is a role for someone who understands both communications and institution-building: someone who can turn Pelsung’s work into clear stories, strong relationships, and a long-term community.

Associate Director, Fund Management

The Associate Director, Fund Management will sit within the Innovation Lab and will support the development and management of Pelsung’s seed and venture funding architecture. This role will manage capital pipelines, investment documentation, stage-gate processes, portfolio tracking, funding restrictions, and reporting systems. It will work closely with finance and governance structures to ensure that Pelsung’s capital deployment is disciplined, transparent, and aligned with approved decision-making processes. This is a role for someone with strong analytical ability, financial discipline, investment judgement, and comfort working at the intersection of venture building, capital allocation, and institutional governance.

Associate Director, Venture Studio

The Associate Director, Venture Studio will sit within the Innovation Lab and will lead the process of turning high-potential problems into structured ventures and implementable solutions. This role will manage venture development, prototype design, team formation, stage-gate progression, and venture support for commercial and quasi-commercial ideas emerging from the Lab. It will work with Innovation Lab Pelsups, associates, partners, and technical experts to move ideas from early concepts into tested models. This is a role for a builder: someone who can structure ideas, test assumptions, manage teams, work with ambiguity, and turn promising opportunities into real ventures.

Who we are looking for

Pelsung is looking for people who can help build an institution, not simply fill a position. These roles require candidates who are comfortable with complexity, disciplined in execution, and willing to work in a fast-evolving environment. We are looking for people with strong ownership, clear judgement, and the ability to work across strategy, operations, partnerships, capital, communications, and venture development.

Candidates do not need to have followed a conventional career path. However, they must demonstrate seriousness, integrity, learning ability, execution capacity, and commitment to Bhutan’s long-term transformation.

Application and selection timeline

  • Applications will remain open for three weeks from the date of announcement (20 Apr - 10 May)
  • After the application period closes, Pelsung will undertake:
  • Shortlisting and background checks: 11 - 15 May
  • Interviews: 18 - 23 May
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly.
